UK Coil Cars can design, manufacture and install
any size, weight, width and height coilcar you need.
In metric or imperial. Whether it is set on steel tracks,
conventional tyres or needs to be used into the field
for onsite deployment.
We can also design and manufacture coil lift assist
equipment which can aid the lifting of the coils to
the required height to allow the coilcar to "take
control" of the coil or even lift equipment which
may be required to be raised or lowered dependant upon
the weight or size of the coil spool.
Almost every coil lift application has different requirements.
The following are just 2 examples of how we may be able
to assist your business;

A compact heavy duty powered mobile
scissor lift coil car.
The
specification called for loading by over-head crane,
750mm of lift travel, a special platform top incorporating
soft faced coil location rollers, 25m of linear traverse
with no trailing cables & the unit to be self contained
and electrically interfaced to the system.
The 15,000kg capacity lift was mounted on a robust
base frame, provided with four flanged rail wheels,
two free and two motor driven, reversible and braked,
via a reduction gear box, electrical controls, limit
switches positional interlocks etc, were incorporated
within the chassis and power fed from bus-bars sited
in a continuous under floor duct.
The scissor mechanism was jig bored and welded, fitted
with glacier DU precision bearings, special bottom stops
to accept impact crane loading, zinc plated machined
components and all parts easily replaced.
Equi-opposed four ram design, was utilised for smooth
operation. |
Changing
die sets weighing up to 12 tonnes. The company
currently erected wooden trestles to match the height
of the press beds and with the help of a fork truck
manoeuvred the large die sets onto the trestles and
the tool was removed by traversing shop crane.
This practice was considered slow and dangerous in
the light of safety legislation and UK Coil Cars Engineers
were asked to visit site and recommend an improved tool
handling system.
After detailed discussions on site with all concerned,
it was agreed that a Heavy Duty Mobile Scissor Lift
would be the best solution.
The lift was specially designed and engineered to bolt
to the face of the press bed when raised to the correct
load transfer height, with the course and fine adjustment
props clearly seen in the photograph set to support
the lift platform in the correct position.
By agreement steel wheels were recessed into the tool
die set bolster and matching recessed wheel grooves
machined into the lift platform to ensure the safe transfer
of the die sets to the mobile press loader.
Down time reduced by 60% and the die sets moved direct
to the tool room.
